Painting Steel Wheels Forum. has anyone painted the stock steel wheels? My plans for tomorrow are to wipe them down good. looking to repaint/spray my original steel wheels in a nice shiny new colour so the new chrome hub camps sit. Thought about doing it myself rattle can, but ended up having a local shop do them, base / clear $27 e. I was thinking that painting them black as that may look a ton better. painted my steel wheels (mojave sand). i'd like to paint them black and make them look like they would if i had purchased black steel wheels new. i have been searching the forum on the best options to paint wheels and cant really find the best option for. i just media blasted some old steel wheels for my truck. paint the inside of the wheel (or leave it in epoxy primer is realistically good enough) and mount the tire but don't.
